Solo players fight on the side of the faction they currently have a long term contract with. Players in corporations fight on the side their corporation is affiliated with. The contribution of players in corporations is tracked, and the corporation that contributes most to the conquest or defence of a sector is credited as the sector owner on the map. This currently gives no bonuses other than bragging rights.
