Desription

Majestic Monolith, a drifting Jericho colony of the Liu Family, the pride of the Departed’s fleet. Monolith used to carry weapons comparable with a whole fleet, and its population was not inferior to some planetary colonies. Although It was not the largest Jericho city, Monolith was considered a holy place. Legend says Bartle himself used it to leave Earth. Monolith served as a place of worship, and it was the main temple of the strange Jericho religion. It was a hub of industry and trade and had the most modern laboratories.

In 4612 Monolith left Bartle Sector. Its mission was known only to the Family Council, and will likely forever remain a mystery. A few years later it re-emerged on the radars. Scouts of the Federation and the Empire discovered strange Jericho activity in Antaress system. The combined fleet of several families surrounded the Liu Monolith. According to rumours, the Monolith had an outbreak. By that time the virus later called ‘Liu-viruses’ or ‘Biomorph Virus’ had already eradicated half the city's population.

It is unknown what caused the destruction of the city — a joint attack by other families, self-destruction or actions of some third party. At some point the Liu family was crushed, and Jericho lost their main sanctuary. The area was immediately closed to all flights, and in a few years it was attached to the trilateral memorandum on the quarantine zones.

Only recently Jericho, upon the initiative of the Mendes family, decided to allow flights to the Monolith for mercenaries. It is said that it still carries a mysterious Precursor artifact. Other sides of the conflict did not hesitate — the Empire and the Federation issued the same orders almost simultaneously.

Now the Monolith remains are swarming with Aliens and Biomorphs. But its depths hold untold riches of secret Jericho technology and answers to the most terrible questions for the bravest explorers.
