All sides the global conflict are well aware of experiments conducted by the Precursor race, that were meant to come up with the most unexpected of ways of obtaining energy from different celestial bodies.
The sector in the Procssima system, where scouts discovered mysterious Precursor ruins, shudders under the pressure of their overflowing energy. But so it happens that this mysterious "source" only plays the role of a background for bloody battles for control of a major node on a “hyperspace highway”.
Most corporations deemed unnecessary the costs for the next prototype Precursor planetary generator research, but control of trade routes - is another matter. In the end, even noble impulses in the name of science have to be funded by something...
